Ursula Buchan has been a gardening author, journalist and speaker since the early 1980s, and has written 15 books to date, as well as many hundreds of gardening articles. She trained as a gardener at the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens at Wisley and at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Ursula has presented two series on flower shows for Channel 4 and has appeared on BBC radio. Her earlier books include Gardening for Pleasure, Plants for All Seasons and Good in a Bed.
Ursula will be talking about her latest book which was published on 7 March, 2013. It's called A Green and Pleasant Land; How England's Gardeners Fought the Second World War. The book looks at civilian life during the Second World War, as viewed through the prism of gardening, both public and private.
