Chrissie has been visiting schools as a poet for over 20 years and has written five award winning children’s poetry collections. She has been shortlisted twice for the CLPE Poetry Award, her poems have been animated for CBeebies and included in many anthologies.
In the event we’ll go on a tour of her books, hearing poems about how not to behave in a high chair, about a hamster who travels to Singapore, and how William flies to the moon to see if it’s made of cheese. You’ll hear about what happened to Dawn when she met the Queen, where the best hiding place is, and the many uses of mint. The audience will be invited to join in with sounds, actions and refrains.
Chrissie will be reading from Now You See Me, Now You …, The Humpback’s Wail, Stars in Jars and Adder, Bluebell, Lobster. The latter book takes 40 of the 110 nature words deleted from the Oxford Junior Dictionary as titles for new poems, Chrissie is on a mission to save words from extinction! Come along and get your rhyming head into gear.
