How to get into the Writer's Groove with Children's Author Kaye Umansky

19th March 2016
Venue: The Great Hall, New Street, Oundle PE8 4G
Time: 2.00-3.00pm

Kaye Umansky is a very successful, award winning writer for children, with her books ranging from picture books to novels. Her first novel, Pongwiffy, shot straight onto the bestseller list on publication. Kaye was a music and drama teacher and this background in music gives her writing and, in particular, her dialogue a strong rhythm which makes it ideal for reading aloud. Kaye not only taught music and drama for a number of years, but performed in a soul band with her husband Mo.

Kaye will be talking about how to get a story started; she begins with the character’s voice, and how to progress with your stories. She will be referring to her fractured fairy stories - The Queen's Tale, The Wickedest Witch in The World, The 13th Fairy, The Stepsister's Story and Prince Frog Face.

We are extremely lucky to have this wonderful author visiting Oundle, so come along, learn and enjoy!

Kaye will be talking about her wonderful retellings of  traditional fairy stories, suitable for 5 - 10 year old would-be authors.

Tickets £5 available from the Oundle Box Office, 4 New Street, Oundle.

Open hours: 10.00am – 1.00pm Mon to Fri Tel 01832 274734, online at www.oundlefestival.org.uk
