Two of our country’s top performance poets, Luke Wright (as seen at last year's festival in Aisle 16) and The Fire Poet, Phillip Wells (also on a return visit), will be at large in Oundle’s pubs and restaurants throughout the evening, finally boarding The Ship where food and pints will be available. Follow the troubadours or join us in The Ship Inn. It will be a lively evening wherever we meet.

Join us for dragon stories and dragon activities. BECOME a dragon when you make a mask and then meet Dr Drake, the greatest dragonologist of our time. He is also known as Dugald Steer, author of the highly successful Dragonology . (You may remember his Pirateology talk at last year's festival).After his performance, we will all be experts and there will be certificates to prove it.

You have two choices: walk the walk (start time 6.30pm) and then return to the Laxton Cloisters or arrive at 7.45pm for mulled wine and nibbles. John Lillyman will raise the hair on the back of your neck with tales of ghosts and things that go bump in the night.

Having published over 70 books for young children to pre-teens, Shoo Rayner is probably one of the most read and certainly one of the most borrowed authors for children in the UK. He is the creator behind many well-loved characters, including the Jets series, Rickey Rocket and Little Horrors. He has also illustrated titles by Terry Deary, Michael Morpurgo and Michael Rosen. Read! Listen! Enjoy! Aimed at the reader of poetry, this seminar gives you a chance to join in reading some famous verse and discover some gems by lesser known writers. The theme of the evening is “Mystery and Imagination”. The poems will be chosen to provide a good mixture of the comic and curious as well as things that chill. Places are limited.

With his utterly ridiculous humour, Andy Stanton’s books are firmly in the tradition of Roald Dahl. Chris d’Lacey’s first novel, Fly, Cherokee, Fly was highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. He has since published over twenty books for children, with author and artist Philip Reeve providing illustrations for several of his works. His fire dragon series is about mysterious, hand-crafted clay dragons that have unusual powers. A fast-paced fantasy series that has proved to be very popular among young readers. Icefire was shortlisted for the 2006 Angus Book Award, an award judged entirely by pupils.

David Roberts has earned great acclaim for his distinctive illustrations, being accomplished in both bold and witty colour paintings and fine black and white line drawing. Based on the 2001 novel by Peter Jinks, Hallam Foe is the bittersweet coming-of-age story of a 17 year old misfit, played by Jamie Bell.Hallam lives with his father and stepmother in a lavish but lonely country pile. His projects include spying on the neighbours in flagrante, and trying to implicate his stepmother in his mother's mysterious death. Driven to leave home, a new life in Edinburgh brings new confusion, in the comely form of Kate, played by Sophia Myles. (Contains explicit sex and language.) The film screening will be introduced by Peter Jinks, who will also answer questions afterwards. A native of Oundle, Peter is a journalist and novelist who now lives in Sicily.
