2010
6th - 20th March
TIckets are now on sale for the festival fortnight. For pure entertainment, Shonaleigh returns to present an evening of mesmerising storytelling, and we are delighted to introduce Murray Lachlan Young, an award-winning performer of mad-cap poetry for children and ex-children. A few further highlights include art historian Francis Spalding who will provide an unmissable opportunity to learn about Oundle's own crown jewels in her lecture on John Piper, with his first stained glass commission providing a stunning backdrop to the event. In step with current events, the eminent academic, advisor and former director of the London School of Economics, Lord Anthony Giddens, will talk about climate change and politics. Do have a good look at all the other festival events you can look forward to.
We're particularly excited this year about our first Readers' Day, where we will have the chance to talk to a variety of authors and fellow book enthusiasts during a whole day of presentations and discussion. Authors will include best-selling romance novelist Jojo Moyes, award-winning writer Stella Duffy, poet and crime writer Sophie Hannah, and Jake Arnott, who looks at the underside of Edwardian life in his latest novel, The Devil's Paintbrush. Full details can be found on our Programme page. Please bring a packed lunch. We will provide the tea and cake! To download a book form, please click here.
Finally, we want to hear from you! This year, you decide the winner of the Window Display Competition. Each year participating shops all around town use great imagination in decorating their windows with literary themes. All the shops will have a number in the window and you can vote for your top four using ballot papers available from Oundle Customer Service Centre between Saturday 6 and Friday 12 March. Please join in the fun!
